Graphic Designer

MediaFace is a leader in developing smart, creative and compelling content. Our solid roots in journalism help us develop quality stories that educate, illuminate and inspire – creating brand love for our clients. We’re passionate about the work we do because it matters. We’re a nimble team of 13 made up of journalists, copywriters, videographers, editors, illustrators, designers and project managers.

You have the ability to articulate your vision well, and then use a range of skills to give it life.
 
You’ll be able to go from concept development, to design and production. You’ll work as part of a design team joining two other designers. This is a fast paced environment where you’ll really get to show off your design craft. The majority of the work is designing for pixels and a tiny bit for paper (80/20). Through your experience, you’re able to walk the line between creativity and client care.

⊙  Required

  • A degree or diploma in Graphic Design, Media Arts or similar fields
  • Strong eye for design
  • Must have two to three years of relevant experience
  • Intermediate to advanced level in in Adobe Creative Suite including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build positive and supportive relationships with all colleagues, enabling you to work independently and as part of a team

WordPress Developer

MediaFace is looking for an experienced, passionate and talented WordPress Developer to join our growing team in Toronto’s Leslieville.

In this permanent position, you’ll work with a variety of clients to exercise your three to five years of experience in: WordPress, WordPress Plugins, PHP, JavaScript, jQuery, CSS3, HTML5 and UX/UI design.

⊙  Primary Responsibilities

  • development and customization of WordPress sites using custom or template themes
  • PHP application development, writing custom theme functionality
  • integration of content into WordPress themes
  • front-end interface development of WordPress themes using HTML/CSS/PHP and JavaScript
  • WordPress plugin integration and development

⊙  Initial Skills and Qualifications

  • three to five years experience working with WordPress, PHP, HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript
  • comfortable with MySQL and the architecture of the WordPress database
  • experience developing custom WordPress themes or plugins using PHP
  • excellent communication and collaboration skills, especially with design teams
  • an eye for good design and clean user interfaces
  • self-directed and able to manage your time effectively

Content Creator – Bilingual (French/English)

MediaFace helps companies develop smart media content. Think of us as a newsroom with all the tools to produce engaging videos, podcasts, animation and text stories. We work in both of Canada’s official languages.

We need a storyteller who wants a dynamic position producing stories including mini-docs, features and reporter-style pieces for our clients. You will develop and edit original content. The job also includes facilitating online webinars and web conferences through Adobe Connect (training provided).

In this creative role, you’ll be involved from the idea phase all the way to delivery and amplification. This is a position for a multi-tasker who thrives within a team and enjoys working with clients. The ideal person will have the right balance of quality and quickness.

⊙  Initial Skills and Qualifications

You have a post-secondary degree or diploma in media, communication or journalism. You must be able to work with ease communicating with francophone clients.

Through your experience, you’re able to walk the line between creativity and client management.

  • A degree or diploma in Graphic Design, Media Arts or similar fields
  • Must have four plus years in an agency environment
  • Proven experience in Adobe Creative Suite including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat, After Effects
  • Strong sense of digital and web design and a general understanding of the fundamentals of user experience and cross-platform compatibility
  • Understanding of designing for video
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build positive and supportive relationships with all colleagues, enabling you to work independently and as part of a team

Content Creator

⊙ Job Description

Content Creator to join our growing team. Half of your time will be dedicated to supporting a client’s WordPress site, while the other half you’ll support MediaFace as either a: producer, editor, camera operator, designer or office manager.

The ideal candidate will first and foremost shine when it comes to WordPress support, but is also an asset to our creative team in an additional capacity/role.

You will not be responsible for website development or design, though basic web development experience is an asset.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Upload of content to WordPress site (video, images, copy, transcripts)
  • Organizing and building of projects
  • Copy editing content
  • Writing project descriptions
  • Reviewing project to ensure it’s consistent in layout, style and tone as other projects
  • Developing descriptive transcripts
  • Media management

Must have skills:

  • Experience uploading content to WordPress
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong writing
  • Strong copy editing
  • Ability to organize a large amount of content in a logical manner
  • Working knowledge of AODA requirements
  • Film/TV/Corporate video production experience
  • Problem solving – tech savvy and can troubleshoot on your own
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction

Assets:

  • Web development experience

  • Mandatory knowledge of and experience designing for accessibility (AODA)

Office manager

  • Strong organization and communication skills

This is a contract position starting immediately. Salary is in the range of 30 to 40k depending on experience. A valid driver’s license is required. If offered the position, you must work in our Leslieville office and obtain a vulnerable sector police clearance.
